Although that does keep you "safe" from rabid dogs. Just keep in the mind that the Courtyard line of quests and the impact from them can absolutely make the base game tougher, and even get's irritating when you're in the Weald and all you face are the Courtyard enemies. Obviously, it's a little difficult to explain without too much in the way of SPOILERS. Secondly, activating that part of the DLC stops town events, and by doing so I was able to prevent a certain - very irritating - Town Event that can lead to lost trinkets that get stolen by an enemy I would prefer to be more able to face. The reason for this is so as to avoid a certain Town Event that can trigger after week 35 and really mess some things up for you in the early game. Firstly, I didn't allow ANY heroes to get above level 4, and most often just kicked heroes out if they dind't have a perfect pair of quirks by level 2. And I was - absolutely - gaming the system. My most current estate started wtih all DLC activated except for the Courtyard, which I didn't activate until week 39. You can absolutely activate the DLC in stages as you progress through the game, though I'd probably only do this on 'Darkest' difficulty or below. And Town Events themselves are most often very helpful, especially in the early game. Second, not taking out the first courtyard quest but instead leaving it alone will mean Town Events are frozen until you do so. Not to mention the difficulty of the new wandering boss, which is definitely a step up from the Collector and the Shambler. Being prepared for the Cove is not the same as being prepared for the Courtyard. The infestation basically means that you will need to be prepared for both the hazards of each region AS WELL as the new enemies in the Courtyard, which can really throw things off. If you activate the quest line portion of Crimson Court from the beginning it will absolutely affect your Estate in one of at least 2 ways.įirst, if you head immediately to the very first CC mission and somehow knock it out, you will see a certain level of imbalance on enemy types to regions (ruins, weald, warrens, and cove). I don't think there's a real "better" option, IMO.
